We are proud to share that Dr. P. A. Amalraj, Senior Lecturer in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science, University of Jaffna, has been selected for funding under the India–Sri Lanka Joint Research Programme 2024.
Project Title: Explorative, Economic, and Efficient Perovskite Based Energy Harvesting Devices
Research Team
The project is led by Dr. P. A. Amalraj as Principal Investigator, with Prof. M. Thanihaichelvan, Department of Physics, University of Jaffna, serving as Co-Investigator. The project is being carried out in collaboration with Dr. Murali Banavoth, Associate Professor of the School of Chemistry, University of Hyderabad, India and Prof. Soma Venugopal Rao, Professor, ARCHEM, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad, India.

- INR 4.32 million (LKR 14.93 million) – Department of Science and Technology (DST), India
Perovskite photovoltaics offer a promising alternative to conventional silicon-based solar cells, owing to their low-cost processing and high potential for energy conversion efficiency. Through this collaborative project, the research team from the University of Jaffna and the University of Hyderabad will address critical challenges related to the stability, efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness of perovskite-based energy harvesting devices, with the aim of contributing to the development of affordable and commercially viable clean-energy technologies.
Beyond advancing renewable energy research, the project will provide valuable opportunities for postgraduate research training, knowledge sharing, and technical exchange between researchers and research institutions in Sri Lanka and India.
